Our commitment to sustainability

At Slowit Barcelona, we are passionate about offering authentic and sustainable experiences in our city. Our commitment to the environment and local culture is at the heart of every activity we organize.

We are part of Biosphere, a certification that ensures our experiences are designed to create a positive impact on both the natural environment and the local community.
The Biosphere certification ensures that we adhere to the highest sustainability standards. This means:

Conservation of natural and cultural heritage

We believe in responsible tourism that preserves natural spaces and protects cultural heritage. We promote respect for the environment by minimizing our impact and encouraging best practices in every experience.

Positive impact on the community

We prevent overcrowding in the city’s most visited neighborhoods. To minimize our impact, we divide groups into smaller units and use Bluetooth audio guides, ensuring a more respectful experience for the surroundings and avoiding disturbances for local residents.

Reducing our ecological footprint

We optimize routes to reduce the use of coaches. Whenever possible, we encourage walking or using public transport, ensuring more sustainable mobility and better integration with the city.

Giving back to the community

We collaborate with local projects that create a real impact. We support the Association of Families and Friends of Children with Cancer of Catalonia (AFANOC) and its initiative La Casa dels Xuklis, a free shelter in Barcelona for families who must relocate to the city during their children’s cancer treatments. Since 1987, AFANOC has worked to improve the quality of life of children and teenagers with cancer while providing comprehensive support to their families.

As part of our commitment, we organize free guided tours for these families, offering them a moment of distraction and respite during a difficult time while connecting them with the history and culture of the city.

We also collaborate annually with Cinema Maldà, an iconic Barcelona cinema that opened in 1945 inside Palau Maldà. With a single screen and a capacity of 206 spectators, it is the oldest one-room cinema in the city. Through our small contribution, we help preserve this valuable piece of Barcelona’s cultural heritage.

Committed to water conservation and plastic reduction

We recognize that water is a limited resource, which is why we promote its responsible use in all our activities. We encourage efficient consumption and remind participants of the importance of avoiding waste, especially in a region where water scarcity is a concern.

Additionally, we are committed to reducing single-use plastics. Instead of disposable bottles, we encourage the use of reusable ones, which can be easily refilled at city fountains. Small actions that make a big difference.

Zero-print policy: 100% digital, 100% sustainable

We don’t have a printer in our office because our philosophy is to work entirely digitally. We are committed to a paperless approach, avoiding unnecessary document printing.

We also refrain from printing group signs or single-use banners that are only needed for a few minutes. By doing so, we reduce waste and minimize our environmental impact. Less paper, more sustainability.
